Getting Started

1.  Say the word you want to spell.

2.  Click on the letter for the First Sound in the word.

                     

For additional information or YouTube videos, click on the blue icon in the upper left corner at the top of the page.

Note:  Click on the option on the right to see pictures of key words and hear the letter sound.

3.  Click on the letter for the Last Sound in the word.

4.  Click on the number of syllables in the word

5.  If you want to make the list of "found" words smaller, use the Filter Sounds option.  Click on letter SOUNDS that you hear between the First Sound and the Last Sound.  Select as many as you need.  Sometimes, you don't hear any of the letter sounds shown.  Click on None of These.

Note:  Levels 1 - 10 represent the frequency of words with groups of 10,000.  For example, words in Level 1 represent words in the most frequently used words from 1 - 10,000.  Words in Level 10 are the least used words between 90,000 - 100,000.

6.  Click on the Start Button to clear out the old word and start working on your new word.

7.  You can use the Clear First and Last Sounds if you need to make a change.

8.  You can Copy the word from the list and Paste it in the Dictionary.com box.  Click on the Dictionary.com icon to look up the word.

9.  If you have Text to Speech on your computer, the Copy/Paste will pronounce the selected word(s).  Click on the Information icon to learn more about Text to Speech.
